Product's description

Original etching done on copper plate, second and final state (in the Salomon's opinion), second of three (Bromberg and Succi), imprinted on the eighteenth century laid paper with watermark "R". At the plate, below the lower left corner framing, engraved signature "A. Canal f.", the middle way, the right initials "FF3" typical of the state in question. The work is wide and splendid view of Dolo on the Brenta River Venetian town which has inspired several etchings by Canaletto. The image shows the river, dotted with several boats including one recognizes, on the left, a skiff that was used for the carriage of passengers, we recognize the building on the left bank Andruzzi, Palladian forms, which also appears in a 'other etching by Canaletto, on the right bank, however, suggests a church, always composed of classical forms. The work is described as typical of the last phase of Succi engraving of the author, for the "bubbly and nervous traits, which give a slightly undulating motion picture"; impressive is the contrast between light and shade the area of land on right, hit by a bright light, and the left bank of which, writes Succi, "melts into a velvety-black brilliant." Exemplary in good conservative condition, trimmed at bat.
