Fine venetian contemporary binding, in full leather with rich blindstamped dry-tooled phytomorphic impressions on covers, with fillets, borders and friezes; integrations on the spine, which has been reconstructed with the recovery of a considerable amount of leather used for the original binding. 324 numbered folios, frontispiece and the woodcut editor's device (on the verso of the last folio) included. The woodcut frontispiece is composed by the title, framed by a refined architectonic aedicula. Text in vulgar, printed in italic roman gothic font. Jospeh Flavius, a greek-speaking jewish historian, participated in the jewish uprising and, captured by Vespasian and later freed, got from him the name Flavius. His works all aim to erase the anti-semitic prejudice of the greco-roman culture. Specimen in good conditions, overall, with a beautiful coeval binding; a few folios are slightly browned.
