LE DIABLE BOITEUX PAR MONSIEUR LE SAGE. NOUVELLE EDITION, CORRIGÉE ET AUGMENTÉE D'UNE JOURNÉEDES PARQUES, DU MÊME AUTEUR.
Elegant binding in full red morocco, signed Quinet. Two gilded double fillets with inner floral corners and a large oval decoration; title, date and rich decorations all gilded on the spine; gilded edges and dentelle on the inner countercovers and marbled guards. XII-360; (4) -224- (4) from 225 to 472 numbered pages, including the three title pages and frontispieces; inside, 12 out-of-text engravings by Dubercelle (in total there are 13 illustrations, also considering title page). The satirical work immediately gave great fame to the author, who had borrowed the subject matter from the text of Guevarra: the devil carries a mortal to the roofs and observes the scenes inside the houses, an excuse to discuss the customs of the Parisians of the time, but this is a completely original work in which the criticism of Parisian customs becomes a social and philosophical criticism. Excellent condition.
